Ballot Results Out For The 2027 TCS London Marathon “Double”

Share

For the first time in its history, the London Marathon is breaking its traditional one-day mold. In response to unprecedented demand—highlighted by 1.33 million applicants for the 2027 cycle—London Marathon Events (LME) has officially announced the 2027 TCS London Marathon “Double.”

This is a one-off, “once-in-a-generation” expansion that will transform the iconic 26.2-mile course into a two-day celebration of sport, community, and charity.

The Logistical Framework

The 2027 Double will take place on Saturday, 24 April, and Sunday, 25 April 2027. Across these two days, 100,000 participants will traverse the same world-famous route from Greenwich to Westminster.

1. Ballot Results and Assignments

If you entered the ballot, your application was automatically entered into a random draw for both days.

  • Assignment Finality: The day you are assigned is final. There is no official mechanism for swapping days with other runners, and any attempt to do so violates the General Conditions of Entry, which will result in your place being cancelled.
  • Missing Results: Ballot results are being sent throughout the day today, 9 July 2026. Check your spam or junk folder for an email from no-reply@marketing.londonmarathonevents.co.uk. If you have not received your result by 09:00 (BST) on Friday, 10 July, you should contact the Customer Engagement Team.

2. The Critical “Must-Do” Confirmation

Securing a ballot place is only the first step.

  • Mandatory Confirmation: Even if you have already paid for your entry, you must log in to your participant dashboard and formally confirm your details by 16:00 BST on Friday, 31 July 2026.
  • Forfeiture Risk: Failure to complete this step—regardless of payment status—will result in the forfeiture of your place.
  • Medal/T-Shirt Opt-in: In alignment with LME’s sustainability goals, your finisher’s medal and T-shirt will not be automatically allocated. You must proactively “opt-in” for these items during the confirmation process.

3. Race Day Logistics: Saturday vs. Sunday

While the route remains identical, the race day experiences differ:

  • Time Constraints: Saturday’s event is time-constrained due to road re-opening schedules, featuring a 7-hour and 45-minute cutoff (Finish Line closes at 17:30). The Sunday event maintains the traditional, generous cutoff of 23:59:59.
  • Participation Limits: You are permitted to participate in the in-person event on only one day. However, you may choose to pair your in-person marathon with the virtual “TCS London Marathon MyWay” event on the other day (these require separate registrations).

4. Elite and Competitive Scheduling

The competitive fields have been strategically re-aligned to maximize the “headliner” status of both days:

  • Gender-Based Splits: Elite, Championship, and “Good for Age” fields will be split by gender. One day will feature the women’s elite and female para-athlete fields, while the other will host the men’s elite and male para-athlete fields.
  • Full Schedule: London Marathon Events will announce the specific distribution of these categories at the end of September 2026.

5. A City-Wide Celebration

The “Double” acts as the centerpiece for a full week of activity:

  • TCS Mini London Marathon: Now scheduled for Friday, 23 April 2027, this will be the world’s largest one-day timed children’s event.
  • Friday Night Lights: A 5K event currently planned for Friday, 23 April 2027.
  • Community Impact: Beyond the elite and mass-participation races, the expansion aims to generate an estimated £400 million for the UK economy and over £150 million in charitable fundraising. Every London school will receive two guaranteed entries, and extra places have been allocated to every London borough along the course.
